10 things that being ‘fit’ gives you (that are more than just your appearance)
I’ve heard too many times over the past few months from people close to me “ohh I really need to get fit” or “I really need to improve my diet for XYZ reason”. I see people starting fitness regimes that are hard, fast & intense and in doing so, burn the flame on both ends & go back to the habits & routines that didn’t serve them in the first place.
I’m finding as I work more & more with women, the more I need to spread the message of fitness & health being something so important, so sacred but also, so achievable for everyone. It’s not hard, it’s a choice. It’s not scary. It’s exciting. Most of all, it’s important you take action now to start making your fitness & your health a priority.
To get you started, I wanted to share some of the many, many incredible benefits of fitness & health that we often don’t think about, but have a huge impact on you, your family & those around you.
1. You feel happier & better within yourself- it doesn’t have to mean looking a certain way, the way you feel is enough
2. You have lots of energy because you’re moving in a way you love, your body is fuelled with delicious, wholesome foods & you just feel so darn amazing.
3. Your mind is strong because your body is strong. When something unexpected happens to you, you’re able to handle it. You know you can push through it.
4. You don’t dread going to the doctor for your yearly health check up & blood tests, you know you fuel your body well & move each day. You know you make yourself & your fitness a priority.
5. When a friend asks you to join them for a walk, you’re excited because you love being outdoors, moving your body & being around people you love.
6. You accept yourself as you are, right now in this moment. You’re proud of yourself for waking up & working on being the best version of yourself. You know that you’re a better version of you than you were yesterday.
7. Your family &/ or children &/ or grandchildren love sharing days with you. You have lots of energy to spare and love running around in the backyard with them & being able to keep up.
8. You bring out the best in other people. You feel good in yourself & in doing so, you make others feel good about themselves.
9. On that same point, you inspire others to be the best version of themselves. You role model the behaviours you want those closest to do so they too can be strong, fit, healthy & their best self.
10. You appreciate your strong body. You love being able to live each day at your full capacity, not restrained by a lack of energy or sickness. You’re living your best life. You’re in control.
Fitness is so much more than your physical appearance. It affects every single aspect of your life, those around you & the way you see the world. Read this again if you really need to soak it in.
